And, actually, for this, for causing me to track down the phrase "farewell earth's bliss" many many years ago. Well, I suppose I can't blame her for the typesetting hobby; I think originally that was the subtle influence of [personal profile] benet.

Text: Thomas Nashe, Litany in a Time of Plague, from Summer's Last Will And Testament.

Capitals: Hans Holbein, Dance of Death Alphabet
Body Type: Sorts Mill Goudy.
Image: Alfred Rethel, detail from Der Tod als Freund,
Border: William Morris, from The Works Of Geoffery Chaucer.

Larger web version available on flikr, enormous printable .tif file negotiably available upon request.

Also, I'm not feeling morbid or depressed or anything, do not be concerned.
I've been meaning to do this one for ages.

Gorgeous. I'm a font geek and started out in book production, and this really is nicely done.

Hunh, I have seen various lines of that quoted before, I'm not sure where. Is "Queen's have died young and fair" in Tam Lin too?

It's tremendously lyrical, and I love what you've done with it. Can you link me to your flickr version? I want to ogle the drop caps.

I am using Sorts Mill Goudy as our primary font at work -- so nice to have one that I can use for both print and web applications. And it's so nicely balanced.

That is gorgeous.

And weirdly, made me feel better about being sick this week. I don't know why. Maybe something about feeling less alone. It's just the normal stuff that flesh is heir to.

*Everything* is in Tam Lin.

Or at least, it seems that way. I think one could get quite a decent English Lit major out of that book...
