So apparently not even a throat so sore your doctor swabbed you for strep gets you out of having to eat a food occasionally if you don't want to feel horrible.

I really resented that when I had strep.

Yes. Preferably before you start seeing visions.

Cool consommé time?

I totally loathed that when I had strep. I lived on warm porridge.

Considering that in and around Westcreek it's be sheep's-milk yoghurt, if there was yoghurt (lactase no problem for Creeks, they're a butter-and-cheese culture), and olives are a Foreign Foodstuff, I can't imagine that even were you a Creek anyone would expect you to consume olives with your yoghurt. (And consommé-ing olives with your yoghurt is Just Wrong.)

Olives are a compact cool way to get a lot of nutrients and some electrolytes.

*with the caveat that it should all be food that can essentially be poured down one's gullet with a minimum of swallowing involved. Because certainly being asked to swallow is beyond the pale under those circumstances.

My mother's sovereign food remedy for this situation was canned peaches and cottage cheese (together). This is relatively nourishing and will slide down your throat without need for swallowing.

I had strep throat four times as a child (spring and fall of second grade, spring and fall of third grade, home sick from school a couple of weeks each time), so I have a great deal of experience with this remedy (and I still think of peaches and cottage cheese as comfort food to this day).

Hope you feel better soon.

I feel your pain -- I was the poster child for step throat as a kid! Had it so many times I don't know why they bothered doing a test swab after a while; so many time I eventually had to have my tonsils & adenoids removed! -- and wish you many easy-to-swallow noms while you fight the good fight!

(While I hope you never have to suffer it again... Do you know the trick to not gagging while being strep tested? I try to pass it on to everybody who's at some risk of strep testing, because it was such a great thing for little!me when some kind doctor told it to me back then! Here is the trick: pant like a dog while the swab's in your mouth. It will keep your gag reflex in check!)
