I blame the weather, and camping at Bon Echo, and general busyness.

Firstly: graydon's book is out! and a copy may be acquired via that link.

Secondly, I shall be in Toronto from June 15-June 23. I will be visiting with benet, and also going to see Flogging Molly, so, somewhat busy but also with lots of free time for shenanigans.

Suggestions for shenanigans may be sent by any of the usual channels.

Thirdly, I successfully rode twenty kilometres in one day last week, in fairly blistering heat, and am quite pleased with myself. I have also discovered that the Plant Pool, my local rec centre, has swim fins, the use of which is being exceeding good for my hip. I may see about purchasing some of my own.

Fourthly, fairestcat returns from Wisconsin today, which is delightful both because I miss her and because I need to get her twenty-two pound utterly attention-starved (Always. He gets no love. We don't even like him) cat off my lap:



Fifthly, very far from least even though last, metawidget and rottenfruit have produced Ada Snow Hortop who I hope very soon to admire in person.

You can really tell that's a cat whom no-one loves. Looks so very, very oppressed.

It's the only reason we keep him. If he loses his looks his fluffy wee arse is on the street.

I'm starting to think there's something about black and white kittyboys. Perhaps it's proximity to orcas, or perhaps it's proximity to Canada (or both!), but when amaliedageek and I moved to Washington, each of our black and white boycats became noticeably more broadassed.

From which we have learned mostly that fat-shaming doesn't make cats any skinner than it makes people.

Leaving aside the complete uselessness and wrongness of the practice, with which I completely agree, how do you even begin to fat-shame a cat?

I mean, not that I've tried, beyond calling him Puddin' on occasion, but I have attempted other, more justified forms of shaming, and mostly he just purrs at me.

Well, I have typically begun verbally and then moved on to jiggling his tummy and hindquarters. So far this seems mostly to have convinced him that I approve of his enhanced dimensions.

It is noticeable that Miles remains better at jumping on and off things than the skinnier cat. Bill is still totally useless at getting up to the bathroom counter where the food dish is, it took him three tries the other day while I was in the tub. Miles, as is obvious from his girth, has no difficulty whatsoever reaching the food dish. But since Bill disappeared for more than a week, back in November, Miles has generally been unenthusiastic about going outside. It's having an effect.
