It's not that I don't take your point, but I am less inclined to bo bothered when a word from a culture no longer extant (Greek culture certainly being alive and a descendant but not sharing a lot of points wrt socio-political structure.)
It's a recognised profession around here, so in practical terms I think we're stuck with it.
