A pulse oximeter is a useful thing to have around the house. As long as your blood oxygen is over 90%, you're okay.
Good article. Of course, since I and my three housemates are in an assortment of high-risk groups, our plan is to stay home except for medical appointments and infrequent shopping trips, at off-peak hours.
I didn't think I needed another one, but it turns out I did need that one in specific-- it's hard to know what to share and what information to prioritize with other people who aren't following closely or aren't taking it seriously. Thank you!
Right now, the point of careful behaviour is to reduce risk across the population. This is a greenfield bug; sooner or later we're all going to get exposed, and probably sick when we are exposed, but fewer at the same time is the main point.
Instead of people understanding this, I'm seeing a lot of panic and poor risk management. (If you're taking an escalator, or taking stairs, it's still safer to hold on and get possible exposure than to trip and fall. I see a lot of people on the TTC doing silly things. If you're really worried, use gloves; otherwise, wash when you get where you're going.)
The large banks have now gone to business continuity plans. Work is almost as safe as home - very few coworkers nearby. (I'm one of the ones in the office. Go in early, wash hands instead of using the ubiquitous Purell, and I match the xkcd profile on self-isolating in any case.)) If only one could teleport in...
