Thank you for sharing this. You're right about it all being perfectly normal, but that doesn't make it any better.

I'm sorry that happened to you. It's so hard to be on guard all the time. It would be a strain even without the "why are you being so defensive?" that always seems to come from the same places as "why can't everybody just take responsibility for their own safety?"
