So I have to say it; the Con Famous Shoes:

are not getting any younger (Yes, thank you, neither am I. "Shut up", she explained.) This might be their last WisCon.

I find myself VERY drawn to these:

They are gorgeous. They are funky. The heel makes me want to weep for joy. And they're close enough in style to the CFS that I am pretty sure I'd wear them a lot.

BUT:

1) They're one solid, not very summery, colour instead of a dark floral. There will be fewer things I can wear them with.

2) On sale, these are two hundred bucks. In my world, two hundred bucks is a lot of money for a pair of shoes.

3) I can be hard to fit, and unless the Toronto store has a pair in my size in stock and are willing to hold them for me on a credit card number until I get into town on a couple of weeks, I'd have to get them online.

4) If they don't fit, because they're a sale pair, I can exchange them for another size (assuming that the size I need can be located, and at my expense for shipping) or take store credit, but I can't get a refund. There is a very good chance that this ends in me putting out for a pair of not-on-sale Fluevogs to get the use out of my credit.

Talk to me...

ETA: OTOH these are kind of glorious, much more affordable (50 bucks), much more likely not to be a fit issue cause open heel, and since I'm going to the US for WisCon on account of that being where WisCon is, I can do the Order Three Return Two size dance with free shipping both ways...

And as much as those Fluevogs are a glorious piece of sculpture, they're not really replacements for the CFS as such. They're sort of their own thing.

I think maybe I'll just keep watching the Fluevog sales for boots. Unless someone inexplicably wants to be my Shoe Mama (or Papa)[1] , full price Fluevogs will continue to be A Thing That Happens To Other People, I think. *sad*

Daughter of ETA:

Ooh, there's a new kid (leather) in town...

At a VERY nice price. And no damned zipper. I hate zippers on boots.

Fluevogs are glorious pieces of sculpture and one day I will own a pair, but La Canadienne's stuff is utterly gorgeous in a totally different way.

[1] I wear a 9. Just sayin'.

The Toronto store will totally get a pair in your size and hold them. Fluevog has FABULOUS customer service. Just sayin'. It's part of why I love them so much—my feet are also hard to fit in a different way (bizarrely high arches) and they are really, really good to me.

Also, I have a pair of shoes from that same heel line. They are incredible to walk in.

(This is not to say that you have not made a good choice in passing on the Fluevogs for the La Canadiennes or what have you.)

I also have weird high arches and wear out the sides of my shoes, but I have no Fluevogs. YET.

They're really lovely, and I think very much to your taste (some of them, anyway)!

I have a pair of Operetta Malibrans and lovelovelove them. I don't wear them all that often (at least not so far), between spending so much time working from home and it having been mostly winter since I got them, but they're wonderful. I'm not a heels person at all, so they still feel a bit odd to me, but not uncomfortable.

(I also have a pair of boots from the Angels line, and I would link to show you, but they're not available anymore. Woe.)

Yikes. I have never been a ~shoe person~ and I'd never heard of this company but now I'm looking at the website and I WANT EVERYTHING.

Those are some damn nice boots.

I wanted the cream in those Fluevogs, which doesn't seem to exist any more...but oh, will I take the black.

ETA: Yikes. They use USA shoe sizing. I hate USA shoe sizing more than any other shoe sizing system in existence. In Japan, a 25.5 always fits (if I can find it). In European sizes, a 40 almost always fits, though sometimes a 40.5 or 39.5 is required. In UK sizes, it's 6.5 or 7.

In USA shoes it's anything from 8 to 10.5 and that's just women's, men's/unisex can be anything from 6.5 to 8. WHY. The USA shoe size system should be buried under six feet of rock and then nuked from orbit just to be sure.

La Canadienne looks... not my style. The fact that they have boots with the toes cut out on the front page probably contributes greatly to this perception, but the other boots don't look like me either.

I hate the look of zippers on boots but given my ginormous calves I can deal with them if I have to.

Actually, weirdly, in stores they aren't always US sizes (or aren't always listed that way). IDK.

OMG, the floral open heel shoes are seven different kinds of awesome! Love love love, and they are worthy successors to the CFS.

I own one pair of Fluevogs (on sale) and they are part of my steampunk kit. I am on the hunt for some nice cream short boots of the Victorian persuasion.
