So, seriously, when did it start to be socially acceptable and even normal to greet the news of someone's death by convening an inquiry on the spot to decide whether they "deserve" sympathy or not?

Ok, actually, forget that question. how do we make it stop?

Oh, it IS about that, then.

Thank God nobody's tried the non-sympathy in my hearing/eyesight. They'd get an earful, those Dutch-built buggers. I have built myself an online bubble -- nothing but mourning, as far as the pixels can reach.

Although I have said that if I see anyone using the photos for an "I will go down with this ship" macro, I'm going to reach through the internet and throttle them.

And I support the general application of your principle.

They built their ships broad in the beam. Stable, but slow, and Killick WAS fond of using it to imply "fat-arsed."

And "fat-arsed" becomes a synonym for "spiritually and morally bankrupt" because -?

a more pertinent question, and one for which I have no adequate answer. Perhaps channe;ing Killick isn't the way to go.
