benet: You know, we kid, but a convincing MRI simulator that doesn't cost a packet a go might actually be useful for anxiety

commodorified: Hmm with the heavy blanket of soothing and the nice breeze. I do like the breeze.

benet: Actually I was thinking for anxiety about having an MRI

commodorified: Oh. I find them, um, pleasingly womblike.

benet: No, I think it makes sense.

commodorified: Add a lightshow on the ceiling and I'd do them for fun.

benet: I mean, my ideal bed is basically a cave.

commodorified: Last time I didn't get the heavy blanket or the airflow so that was more twitchy.

This time they put a weighted blanket over my pelvis so my breathing wouldn't move it. Much nicer.

benet: I cannot remember those things but I prob had the blanket.

Let's just say that I had the same reaction Ivan Vorpatril had to the Thames Tidal Barrier when I had to have one done on my shoulder years ago.

I can definitely see that. I found the nice fresh breeze they kept going over my face helped with that, and was good for staying oriented.

I don't remember a weighted blanket; I bet that would have been nice. If I'd kept my eyes open, I'd definitely have gotten claustrophobic, so I closed them and meditated. It worked, except when they kept alerting me to ask me to think about things. (It was an fMRI, for research.)

I think the weighted blanket depends on what they're imaging and how long the scan is, but I do commend it. I sort of want one now, tbh.

I've never had an MRI, but speaking as someone who found her general anaesthetic a fascinating and enjoyable experience, I doubt you're alone.

I rather enjoyed the two MRIs I've had. Both were of my head, meaning they put a cage over my face. I just shut my eyes and listened to the nice music. CT scans aren't as much fun.

I've had six or seven MRIs, and they're for my brain, so I've had to be placed in the Hannibal Lechter face cage. :-S

Damnark -- *cough* -- I mean Danmark apparently doesn't give the option of background or whateverground music during the MRI, so I have to zone out on my own, thinking about diving.
