If I were an absolutist I would say that every kitchen needs a rocking chair. As it is I will only say that I am very very glad that mine has one right now. And kettlebells. :-)

H'm, "small space" is relative; nowadays, for the first time in my life, I have a kitchen where I can't stand in the middle and reach everything - sink, cooker, work surface - without moving my feet. I might manage that now, but in my previous house the kettle would have gone flying.

True that; our kitchen is a great big square room with poor space usage. The one real advantage to that is that the centre is actually the biggest open space in the house, which is how it has come to acquire a footstool, a rocking chair, a yoga mat, to be unrolled when wanted, and some weights. And, at the moment, a laundry hamper, as our washing machine is in there as well.
