So we just had to deal with a case of [thing which gives me a serious case of the squicky twitching meemies].

As it happens, I am aware that this thing also gives about half of you folks the squicky twitching meemies.

Therefore. Please make nonspecific soothing noises at me?

(I feel like I shouldn't even have to say this but if you comment trying to guess what it was, I'm going to assume you don't value your commenting privileges.)

This is not me trying to find out, this is just my brain having a Moment and wanting to know which box I am in: am I making nonspecific soothing noises at you from inside or outside the box of squicky twitching meemies? (assuming you know)

Regardless, I am sorry you had to deal with the meemies. Here is my sister's cat being adorable?

He is a very silly kitty. I quarter-seriously suspect that somehow he found out the cuddly reputation of ragdolls at an early age and got Offended and is now trying to prove it is not so.

Which means he's needy and clingy but refuses to actually sit with you or stay within arms' reach to be petted except in very specific circumstances.

Same question, if you know.

And kittencam. (I don't know for sure whether that stream works in Canada, but I can't think why it wouldn't.)

I have some nice tea (and herbal teas, in case it's too late for you to want caffeine), and the cats will purr at us.

Also, you are the people who have in fact dealt with it.

Best soothing thoughts! I have no idea what's going on, but I hope you and everyone are all safe and well.

If this is remotely up your alley, here are some good self-compassion guided meditations. The last one is very short and, for me, very effective at calming me down. And, obvsly, if this isn't your thing, no worries. I hope you find something that helps you breathe through it.

Kitties. Sunshine (or rain, whichever, I think rn I would find a nice drizzle extremely soothing). Relaxant chemicals of your preferred variety.

Non-specific soothing noises coming up. And a virtual cup of chamomile tea, which is supposed to be calming and soothing.

Would a chocolate orange help?
Can't send purrs from poor Bynny who died last week, but two of her great-great-great-great nieces are coming to live with us the week after next and I'll send theirs on ASAP.

Sending you nonspecific soothing sounds -- possibly the sound of your favorite music from a nearby room, not overwhelming but there. Also chocolate cake, gingerbread, and that really good tea that I found at the Byward Market last time I was in Ottawa, too long ago.

Pirate Jenny and Beautifulcat send purrs and offers to chase and annoy and bite whatever is bothering you. They are good at this; they have been successfully harrying a large fly that got into the house whenever it tries to buzz me or the SU.

I don't know if you're a fan of Game of Thrones, but you don't need to be. You may have seen it -- good grief, my post is 4 years old -- from tzikeh, but it's well worth listening to again (and again, and again, and...)

The blurb reads, "An acoustic and electric violin cover of the main theme song from Game of Thrones. Arranged and performed by Jason Yang." Tzikeh says, "Young man picks apart every line of the theme to the Game of Thrones theme (first violin, second violin, counterpoint, cello line, bass line, etc.) and makes video of him playing each of them separately--then mixes them all together."

I don't know where tzikeh got that information -- maybe she knows the music business -- but the result is stunning. I consider this a very soothing noise; hope you enjoy it.

And I hope your squicky twitching meemies are vanquished quickly.
